I was listening to a message from Andy Stanley the other day that made me laugh so hard and think a whole bunch. He was talking about the different types of church government. When he got to the congregational style government, he said that there were three times when God’s people took a vote in Scripture – see if these are positive descriptions or negative descriptions…
1) When Joseph’s brothers decided to sell him into slavery.
2) When the Israelites voted to make a golden calf to worship instead of God.
3) When the Israelites decided that God wasn’t a sufficient enough King, but they wanted to be like the other nations and have a king, and so they got Saul.
