Wow…Grand Opening…Wow (Not the building – God)

That’s about all I can say – wow. We helped design the building so that people would say “wow.” We wanted people to be intrigued by the outside and come inside. We wanted people to walk in and feel at home and desire to stay a while and build community. And today we saw all of that happen.

But we also were more mesmerized by Jesus.

Oh, if I had the time to write or you had the time to read, the things we would share together on this blog, but I can share some with you. People who haven’t been to church in a long time came back and experienced God. 20-somethings who think that church is so outdated came and checked us out. People who had been disenfranchised by churches who only cared about non-essentials found a church that cared about loving God and loving people. Visitors who came for the hype found Jesus in an impacting way. We prayed, worshipped, and experienced amazing community. Oh, what a day, what a day.

But we’re just getting started. Jeff’s message was so on today. It’s always on, but today it was just a reminder of why we are doing what we are doing. We want to be a church that doesn’t worry about the trivial religious things, we want to be Kingdom focused. He shared a story about a buddy of mine, Scott Readett. One of Jeff’s friends, Jimmy, ran into Scott at the car wash where Scott asked if he could buy one of Jimmy’s Bibles in his car to give to his friend. Jimmy asked Scott, “what do you know about this book?” Scott replied, “this Book is my life!”

Jimmy watched Scott share the gospel with his friend and was “wowed.” Maybe we’re about to see what a town can look like when we start living like what we say we believe. Maybe we are going to see what can happen when a church lets loose on the world and watch the transforming power of Jesus unload on a dying world. Maybe the past 40 years of North Side are just a precursor to what He is going to continue to do.

Today, we worshipped to the following songs:

I’ll also post a little later on some of the building perks – some of the special things – you might not know about so you know how to get the most use out of it.

Also, check out our new website that went up today! It is smoking and so helpful. Thanks for making today unforgettable!
