Dialogue That Devours

What a great Sunday!  Today we make our pledges for the Now campaign in all three services.  A group of our leaders have already made their pledges, and before the service today, we have had over 1 million dollars pledged to the campaign to date!  That small group of people showed up in a big way, and we are believing in faith that the pledges today are going to do something that only God can get the credit for.  We’ll announce it next Sunday.  If you were not able to pledge yet, bring it by the office during the week.  We serve an amazing God to do what he has done in such tough economic times – it just shows us again that Jesus still reigns supreme!

In the message today, Jeff mentioned that the church normally doesn’t talk about verbal abuse, but that changed today.  He talked with boldness about how our words hurt one another.  It seems like our hurtful words are on a smaller “scale” of sins for people.  Abuse, murder, sexual immorality, etc. are seen as serious sins, but our words don’t ever really come up.  But when we hurt others with our words, that is sin that Christ had to die for!  Read your Compass this week to continue this study – this emphasis is a great need in your life, your family, and this community.

Today, we worshiped to these songs:

  • Sing, Sing, Sing – Chris Tomlin
  • All Things New – Travis Agnew
  • Take My Life – Hymn with Tomlin arrangement
  • I Need You to Survive – Hezekiah Walker

I love singing with our church.  But I really love singing “I Need You to Survive” with you, because you get after it!  Now apply those words this week.  “I won’t harm you with words from my mouth, I love you, I need you to survive.”

Point of Grace and Phil Stacey tonight.  We sold out of tickets, so if you don’t have one, sorry.  But we do have David Phelps tickets available – get those before they sell out!
