This week’s book of the week is the Book of Genesis. I received a new ESV study Bible this week, and started rereading Genesis even though I read it once this month. Since I am reading through the Bible in a new plan, I wanted to go through it in this Bible so I wouldn’t just jump in at a random spot and not have marking in the beginning sections (I have issues, I know).
By the way, I love this ESV study Bible. It is so helpful with so many insights and brillant commentary. If you don’t have a study Bible, I would recommend saving up and buying one. While they are expensive, they are so worth it because they always have a footnote for the question you have while reading.
Top 5 Ideas:
- “The the LORD God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him'” (Gen 2:18).
- “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it” (Gen 4:7).
- “Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him” (Gen 5:24).
- “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart” (Gen 6:5-6).
- “So she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, ‘You are a God of seeing, for she said, ‘Truly here I have seen him who looks after me'” (Gen 16:13).
By chapter 16, I already had my top 5 ideas. This book has more great stuff in it than just those ideas!
