Chapter 11: The Classroom (Freshman 15 Snippet)

Here’s a snippet from Chapter 11: The Classroom:

History displays a stark contrast to present reality.  Years ago, the greatest paintings, musical scores, and architectural pieces were almost always produced by followers of Jesus.  The most talented painters painted biblical scenes because no greater image could ever fill a canvas.  If a composer developed a beautiful symphony, he must put it to Scripture because no greater lyrics could possibly exist.  Architectural pieces that caught the eye always drew the heart towards a mighty God.

Nowadays, Christian production has been diminished to cheesy t-shirts, mediocre films, and bad music.  When a Christian artist sells his records based upon an advertisement equating his music as sounding like the music of some worldly artist, we have totally missed the concept of stewardship of the mind.  We shouldn’t have to compare Christians’ efforts as to those who don’t know Jesus; our quality of work should be greater than anything this world has to offer because we have a more magnificent subject in which to highlight, and the original Creator God lives inside of us equipping us to represent him and represent him well.

As you work through your major and work towards a job, for the sake of Jesus, do not do it halfway.  Whatever you do, do it all do the glory of Jesus.  It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you do it in such a way to shine a light on Jesus.

Leading up to the time around when I get to release Freshman 15, I wanted to provide you a snippet every day for 15 days at 15:00 in the afternoon.
