Hannah’s Last Day

Today is a bittersweet day.  It is Hannah Nichol’s last day on the North Side staff.

It is bitter because we are losing one of the best employees a church could ever ask for.  It is sweet because we are so excited she is marrying Traylor this weekend and they get to start their kingdom focused marriage together in Columbia (and I’m the lucky minister who gets to officiate!).

While I’ve been Hannah’s boss for the last couple of years, I also feel like an extra protective brother to her.  So as I’ve gotten to know Traylor over these last months, I am so relieved that she is marrying such a godly guy.  I am so excited she is already plugged into a great church at Midtown.

When I met Hannah at Lander, she was an amazing student with a ton of influence at Lander.  I watched her grow more and more like Christ everyday.  It was amazing to watch her stand firm and reach out to those far away from God on that campus (not many people can do that).

When she graduated, she came on staff as a receptionist, she spent some time on the missions team, and then on the worship team.  Serving as a reference for her in her job hunt, I told this to someone about Hannah: “It is rare to find a person with technical skills that people actually like.  It is rare to find someone with technical skills with administrative skills.  It is rare to find a person who can organize stuff, get the job done, and yet still be a person that people are drawn to.  Hannah is all that and so much more.”

While she has served in numerous roles at this church due to the fact that she is so stinkin’ talented, her biggest print on our fellowship is that she has invested in lives and encouraged people to be more like Jesus.  And for that, I am forever grateful.

Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.” -Philippians 1:27

What about you?  How has Hannah changed your life?  Let’s make this an online scrapbook for her thanking her for her service to our church.  Share the love!

  2. Hannah, your love for children inspired me to love them as well. I reluctantly agreed to teach 5th grade boys during VBS last year – what a challenge! Watching you so enthusiastically teach the kids music was wonderful! You broke the songs down so that they could learn them easily in a very short time! Best of luck with your new family! You will be missed!

  13. Hannah, thank you for being such an inspiration to our children. Brooklyn, thinks sooo much of you and she can, along with us, see your joy for children and your true joy for Jesus. You have a true servants heart that is magnified in all you do and say and that means so much to us as parents. Thank you for loving people for who they are and showing Christs Love in all you do. We will miss you, but we wish you so many blessings as you begin such a joyous chapter in your life as a couple. We love

  14. Hannah, as I have told you time and time again, you are a blessing to me and Christina! We are going to miss you dearly, but you know we will be in Columbia since you and my sister live there now, so you and Traylor better make room for us or we’ll just sleep on the roof, lol. You have been such an inspiration to Christina. You will never know how much of an impact socially, but more importantly, spiritually, you had of her directly. I have never thanked you for all of the hours you put in as a Peak C-Group leader. As Travis stated, you are a person that wears many shoes, but the most important shoe you wear is your character and how you treat everyone with LOVE. Thank you so much for that and keep that up in Columbia and wherever God sends you and Traylor. He needs y’all there! So, as Jeff has stated throughout this series, live with your eyes wide open and continue to make a difference in a world that needs people like you. Much love and do not EVER hesitate to let us know if we can ever do anything for you! Much love!!

  15. Wow, Hannie…… Where to even begin? You are one of the most amazing people I know!!!! Well, it all began when you and Boytie worked at the church together and all I heard about was how cool this Hannah girl was. I will have to say that I was so sad that I didnt know you and everyone else did….and I will say you did live up to all of the hype because you’re one amazing person!

I am so excited that I have been able to work with you the past few years. It has been sooo amazing to learn so much from you.

People are always happy when they’re around you because you have such a sweet, fun and loving spirit that makes people happy! You have one huge heart that loves God first and people. ou are so strong spiritually and its sooooo contagious. You’re living out what it means to be a real Christ Follower!!

I am going to miss you beyond anything I can imagine. I am going to miss working out with you every week, hearing your music play across the cube, making runs to wal mart, getting muffins and most of all your beautiful face (plus TONS more)! 😀

Traylor is one lucky guy and I know that yall are going to do amazing things for the Kingdom! 😀 who knows….maybe we’ll work together in some Latin American country one day! Thank you for being you! I will miss you Hannie! 😀

  23. Precious Hannah, your Christlike love is so evident to all who come in contact with you and all receive a blessing. There are countless memories including Kenya, Passion, Project Noah, the house on Loblolly, C-Group,the shopping trip, all the Williams clan and the projects in and through North Side Ministries. Through and in it all you have been a blessing and inspiration to so many. I count myself as honored to have been involved in so much with you, Hannah-girl. I loved seeing God stretch you with your job and praying with you for the outcome, with rejoicing before we even knew Traylor or where you would work. I love you like my own and look with great expectancy for all the blessings that will flow through your union with Traylor. The Kingdom is strengthen by your walk of faith and you have inspired so many. I thank our God for the testimony of your life. You will never be able to count the blessings stored up for you in heaven by your faithfulness. You always have a place in our hearts, in our home and in our lives. We rejoice with you, over you and in our most gracious LORD for the blessing of your life. Hallelujah, for Hannah!!!!

You have been such a blessing to us…..a bright light who shines the love of Jesus everywhere you go. We will be praying for you and Traylor as you begin this next phase of your journey. God bless you both.

  30. Unfortunately, I had already moved to NC when Hannah came along. But, I did get to meet her and have a couple of interactions with her. And, I can totally agree that she is truly a believer, follower, and reflection of Christ. She reaches out to people with her smile, words, and attitude. If you ever hear or read (on FB :0) ) how people talk about her and to her, it makes you either happy that you know her or jealous that you don't! Love you Hannah! Enjoy married life. It's wond
