Pray for Church Members (Part 1)

Continuing in our quest to learn how to pray, I want to encourage you to pray for other church members this week.  You might have a long list – there are a lot of people to pray for!  But that doesn’t mean you can’t get started.

Don’t pray: “God bless all the church members.”  That’s good, but it’s hard to put your heart behind such a vague prayer request.  We must make it intentional.

Try this activity out this week.  In your Bible, place a notecard where you go ahead and pick a prayer focus for every day of the week regarding your church.  Here’s an example:

  • Sunday – church staff
  • Monday – C-Group
  • Tuesday – family members
  • Wednesday – MIA church members
  • Thursday – men you know who need to step it up in the home
  • Friday – those close to becoming Christian
  • Saturday – Project Love workers

Set up a prayer guide like that for the coming week.  Instead of praying for it once and moving on, make that the prayer focus for the whole day – you will be surprised at how you can start praying without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17).
