Happy 6th Anniversary!

This is my 1,000th blog post.  As I looked down the line at what this monumental post should be about, it was very simple: I have the most amazing wife in the entire world.

Today marks 6 years of marriage for the Agnews.  Amanda and I were high school sweethearts, and why I cared for her then, I can’t even begin to describe my love for her now.  It has been a full 6 years since we have been married.  Both of us have worked busy jobs, finished 3 degrees, had 2 children, and experienced countless memories.

While I could dote on Amanda’s beauty, commitment, faithfulness, joy, devotion, godliness, selflessness, mothering abilities, or so much more, I am reminded of one of the things I love the most about her today: her smile.

This picture above, taken by the ever-so-talented Paige Stumbo, reminds me why I am blessed beyond any man in the world.  When we were engaged, I had a verse printed on a picture of her that so eloquently describes my wife:

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future” (Prov. 31:25).

When I think back to that engagement picture, I remember that joyous smile that looked ahead to the future.  6 years later, the smile is even deeper and more satisfied, and I can only wonder: “God, if you have allowed us to walk beside You and experience all that we have in the last 6 years, what more amazing things do you have in store for our family?”

Today, I am thankful for a strong wife.  I am thankful that who she is is characterized by dignity.  And I am thankful, that after all that we have experienced, I still have a smiling wife.  There she stands in my arms, simply radiant and joyous.

And I am the lucky one.
