Authentic Christian Community

What a great Sunday at North Side as we continued through our 2nd week of “Solitary Confinement” as we focused on the big idea of “Authentic Christian Community.”

Some of us struggle to grow in our walk with Christ because we fail to get in the right environments.  In authentic Christian community, God uses other believers to strengthen us.  Are you making sure you are setting yourself up for spiritual success?

The above picture is Jeff’s big boy tomato that he has been growing in his backyard.  Something is definitely wrong (garden, soil, water, planter…)!  As he pointed out, many of us are like that because we aren’t planting ourselves around the people of God.  His message was so powerful today – can’t wait to talk about it tonight in my C-Group.

Other ways we drove home the big idea was through a great small group video and a wonderful testimony about C-Groups from one of our elders, Scott Davis.  Here was today’s full service guide.

Today, we worshiped to:

Our team pulled what energy they had left from a long weekend of ministry and left it all on the stage this Sunday.  After a weekend of pouring into other worship teams, this crew gave it their all yet again.  And I must admit, my challenge for the congregation to sing like a bunch of worship leaders from this weekend must have paid off because you guys got after it too!  It was an amazing time of worship today, and I am honored to get to do it with this team and with this church!

Can’t wait for a special conclusion to this series next Sunday!

  1. I was AMAZED with the sermon. Just last night I needed advice and a friend. It was 2:00 in the morning and I called a person from my C-group. We talked for over an hour and then I came into church this morning and heard Jeff's sermon. WOW!! Don't know what else to say excep

  4. It hit me close to my heart. I moved to GWD and started going to NS 2 1/2 yrs ago. This is the church I visited first and loved it from the beginning. I have to say that even though there has been some great people that open up to me as true christians, I can see what Jeff said about others staying green like his tomato. Some people would dismiss someone like me maybe because they think I don't belong because I am different. I surely felt that way because it happened to me – feeling lonely and lost in this town and reached out to someone that didn't think I was worth helping out, but God had other plans and wanted me to continue going to NS and I am there. The message I hope will get to those who even though they say they are christians and may know the word of God well, still need to grow as Jeff said by being intentional – we exist for a reason and we all have struggles, authentic – no one is perfect, available – look people in the eye don't ignore them and accountable – for sure there are people that are heartbroken and if we don't reach out to them we are not being true christian or better said mature christians. As for as me I will immediately reflect on my areas that need attention to make sure I don't stay like that green tomato and find a way to keep helping people. After all nothing I have is really mine, it was given to me by God so I can give it back somehow. Finally, the music was such that made it all so special and feeling so close to God. I love
