Present Help – Storytellers

This edition of storytellers from the Overcome album focuses on a song called “Present Help.”  This is the 3rd recording project this song has been used on.  I actually wrote this song in college.  I started working on it in the piano lab around 1999 or 2000 (whoa, I’m getting old).

I would often open up the Psalms in one of those piano rooms and just start singing from Scripture.  Psalm 27 was my rallying point during that year.  I sang the first line over and over, “The LORD is my light and my salvation, whom then shall I fear?”  It wasn’t until 2006 did I finalize a chorus for the song.

Then this year, when I was working on my solo fundraiser project for our adoption, “Coming Home,” did I bring it back out, and tweak some lines in the verses to make them work better.  The mix is different on this project than before, plus we took out my background vocals and had Angela sing on it.

Below is a snippet from the song or you can get your copy at iTunes.
