Major in the Minors: Haggai

What a great day at North Side!  I was so honored to lead in worship with a group from this summer’s Worship Academy.  This is part of the crew that studied together for 7 weeks this summer.  We’re missing a few more, but it was great to get most of them together and lead our church in worship.

Honestly, we stayed more in the Bible than on stage during training (first things first).  We only got our instruments out to play together last Wednesday.  Many of them had expressed interest in playing together, so it was a great time to let this crew lead.  They did a wonderful job!

Today, we worshiped to:

Jeff said that it was almost eerie how much God’s Word was speaking to him this week concerning today’s message from Haggai.  For those is attendance, you probably felt it to.  We simply aren’t smart enough to plan today’s minor prophet book to be in with relation to our church’s direction.  The 4 major words from Haggai?  1) Don’t invest everything in yourself and shortchange God, 2) the glory of the latter house will be greater than the former, 3) personal holiness is key in service, and 4) leaders need to stay focused on God and he will take care of the rest.  Powerful message, and you can listen to it here.

We also revealed that we were at 90.6% of our volunteers need met when we started today!  In just 2 weeks, we started with a need of 447 servant positions to fill, and we started the day almost at our goal – unthinkable unless God is in it!  As I left, people were still lining up to fill the remaining positions.  The plan is if we reach 100% by the end of the day, which we think we will, we will start North Side’s new schedule on August 14th, the Sunday before school starts back.  I’ll keep you posted when we get the final word, but what an incredible day to watch God on the move!

Don’t forget – we celebrate communion tonight at 5:30.  See you there!
