Love {in}Deed Recap

Still hearing reports of all God did through his church on Sunday as North Side participated in a Love {in}Deed day as we served Greenwood.

We said, “Amen,” and then we went throughout the city to serve others.  As the worship service concluded, the real service began.

Here were some of the feedback we received from just a few of our sites:

  • Ashley House – We, along with some of our children, played Bingo, drew pictures, and talked with the residents.  Leah Wilson played hymns on the flute requested by the senior adults.  We had a fantastic time and plan to go back often!
  • Bethany Center/ Spanish Church – We had a blast serving with our church family, we cleaned up and cleared out a soccer field and play ground! Also we were able to show some of God’s love to the kids at the church!
  • Blood Mobile – We had 14 people who were willing to give on Sunday and were able to complete 11 units.  Each unit of blood has the potential to save up to the three lives so up to 33 lives might be saved!
  • Burton Center – We spent time getting to know the residents and staff.  Then, we sang some songs and used our instruments.  The residents loved the instruments! I imagine that some of them are still humming the songs!
  • La Puerta De Esperanza – We had the opportunity to love on some of the neighborhood kids.  We had pizza and music, played soccer and tag, and even made a few friends.  Thanks to the Eppley C-Group, Sam Melton, Janice Byrd, Teresa Salisbury, and several of our youth who helped with this project!
  • Prayer Team – We shared such a unique and beautiful time together on bended knees while realizing the freedom that we have to come before our Savior in that way. We prayed together as a group and as individuals for all of our North Side family who were out serving our community. We also prayed for many different things including, our city, state, country, missionaries, church family, church staff, and much more.
  • Project Love/ Evangelism Team  – We went door to door in three different neighbor hoods, asking for prayer request and inviting their kids to Project Love. We were able to get at least seven kids signed up and more that are interested!
  • Wesley Commons – The Worship Choir sang as part of the Chapel service for the residents at Wesley Commons. The folks seemed to enjoy and appreciate the music. The chaplain said that many of them were talking about it and were hoping we could come back sometime.

And more!  The most exciting thing about this is that I have heard so many reports of people who are going back soon.   Groups that are going on the regular – that’s what it’s all about!
