I Could Eat More Than God

You never know what you are gonna get with my children.  Random sayings, crazy ideas, and fun adventures are a daily ritual.

The other day I was eating lunch with my children while Mom had gone out to get some things done.  I used to be able to clean my plate and also clean Amanda’s plate at the end of a meal.  The problem is now these two boys are also jockeying for that position.  They are always asking, “Hey, are you going to finish that?”

As Eli continually asked Obadiah if he was going to finish his plate, Obadiah said, “Eli, I think you could eat more than God!”

I never even got the time to ponder the question whether or not that statement was true or even valid before Eli responded quickly.

“Yep, I could!  I would go up to heaven, sneak up behind him while he was talking to people, and eat his spaghetti!”

You can’t make this stuff up.

I laughed and laughed at the thought process of these boys.  My heart was full of joy as I listened to them.

And as I listened, I had to wonder at God’s reaction to this lunch conversation.  I happen to think he was laughing heartily as well.

“Behold, children are a gift from the LORD” (Psalm 127:3).
