No Lying

We continued through our Exodus series and made it to commandment #9 this week:

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.  -Exodus 20:16

Since I was out-of-town for practice, I sat out this week and got to be led by an incredible group of worship leaders.  They didn’t need me up there a bit!  The gang did a fantastic job of leading people to Jesus.

There was a camera man who called in sick and so I volunteered for that job at the 9:30 service.  It was a great way to serve in a way I don’t normally get to.  It’s hard work though, I’ll tell you.  Major props to the crew that serves in that way – you do a way better job than me!

When someone saw me up there, they looked confused and I simply replied, “We are still trying to find something around here that I’m good at!”  We are so blessed to have such a talented worship, tech, and host team that serves week in and week out.

The band began by singing “Brethren, We Have Met to Worship” and the “New Doxology.”

Jeff then led a commissioning time for our next West Africa team leaving this week.  Loved praying for these men and expecting God to do great things through them.

After that, the band led in “Hallelujah What a Savior” and “Cornerstone.”  I kept taking my headset off to listen to the wonderful singing by our congregation.

Jeff’s message on lying was like every other message on these commandments – he took it places I didn’t see coming.  Each week, I think I know how he is going to address it, and each week, he surprises me.  God’s Word is full of instructions concerning this commandment and I am still processing all that I learned today.

Next week, we reach the final commandment – hope to see you there!
