Kendrick Brothers Movie #5 (And Some New Curriculum)

After preaching Sunday morning, teaching on cults Sunday evening, I went home to get a few hours of sleep.  My alarm woke me up at 3:45 AM Monday morning so I could get to the airport to make it to an early meeting in Nashville.  While the conditions were tiresome, I was eager and humbled at the opportunity.

I am getting the chance to work with the Kendrick Brothers on another project.  It was an honor to work with them on the curriculum associated with Courageous.  I helped develop “Honor Begins at Home,” “The Resolution for Men Bible Study,” and then “Love Dare for Parents.”  Working with them on these projects was a tremendous honor and blessing.

I was surprised to receive a call and ask if I wanted to jump on board again, but God’s timing and the circumstances around this situation were so very clear.

Their 5th movie, currently known as “Movie Five,” is going to be released Fall 2015.  The movie is all about prayer and I can say it is one of the most powerful things I have ever seen.  While the entire movie is a joy, there are a couple of scenes in which I was standing up shouting “Amen” the first time I saw them.  Each time I have seen the film, I either want to cry my eyes out, run through a brick wall, or charge hell with a water pistol.  Just depends on the scene.

The movie stars Priscilla Shirer and has a fantastic story and cast.  Here is the synopsis:

Currently in post production for release in 2015, our fifth film is about learning to fight the right kinds of battles. Filled with humor, wit and heart, it follows Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, a middle-class couple, and their daughter, Danielle, as they struggle through personal, marital and spiritual issues. Their lives are forever changed after Elizabeth meets an elderly widow who helps her develop a secret prayer room in her home.

The Kendrick Brothers are developing a book on prayer and I am working with them to develop an 8-week Bible study on prayer.  Spending two days in the Word with these fellas and the wonderful staff at LifeWay is always a treat.  We have some animated conversations because there are some very lively, passionate people in the room.  When preachers get in the room together, we kind of just preach to each other and it gets louder and faster every hour.  I left exhausted but my head and my heart were full!

We kept studying the repeated times in the New Testament where God says we should be devoted to prayer.  It is astounding how much prayer is supposed to be a part of our lives and yet we can tragically neglect it.

In addition to the curriculum I am working on, Nic Allen will be developing a campaign kit around the movie also with LifeWay.

I am writing to ask you to pray.  I want to be faithful to God’s Word on this project.  I want to do the best I am able to do by depending upon God’s Word and his Spirit for direction.  This is a powerful project and to get your head around all that God could do if he used this ministry as a catalyst for believers and churches to pray seriously is overwhelming.  I am humbled to have a small part in this, but I can’t wait to see all that God does through it!

If you can pray for my part in this once, weekly, daily, whatever you could, I would appreciate it so much!  I will give updates as we go on how you can pray and on the progress.  Thank you so much!
