Godly Wisdom

Today we focused on the need and the acquirement of godly wisdom.

I love being a part of this church.

We began by singing “My Tribute” by the late Andre Crouch and went straight into “How Great Thou Art.”  We sang “Your Word” again this Sunday.  It was great watching people connect with the truths of this song.

We then got to watch a great video from our West Africa team.  These testimonies were great to hear!

After the testimonies, we sang “My Jesus I Love Thee” and got into the message for the day from James 1:5-8:

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Jeff’s message was so practical.  The acquirement of godly wisdom is by asking God in faith.  It is important to:

  1. Admit I don’t have the needed wisdom
  2. Ask God to supply what is lacking
  3. Apply the wisdom that he has given (don’t be double-minded, unstable)

He shared a story from one of our church members that was so powerful.  Jackie is currently fighting cancer and Jeff’s visit with her in the hospital revealed her faith and wisdom.  She is using this sickness to bring God glory and she is making him look glorious!  She is witnessing to those in the hospital and displaying God’s wisdom.

After the message, we sang a medley of “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” and “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.”  It was a great way to conclude our services!
