Don’t Be Deceived

Today’s services were guided by James 1:16-18:

16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. 18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

We began our time today focusing on the goodness of our God.  First we had 3 Scripture readers read selected psalms.  We sang “Enter His Gates” and “You Are Good.”

We then got to hear some great words about The Gospel Project starting up in 2 weeks.  We also encouraged those not in groups to find one to join in what God is going to teach us through his Word!

We then focused on the fatherhood of God by singing “My Father’s World” and “Our God Is With Us.”  Loved the diversity in our worship time together.

The message was such a great reminder concerning the goodness of God.  His goodness and his immutability lead to our salvation.

God gives good gifts.  God gives perfect gifts.

Satan wants me to doubt that everything given by God is good and perfect.  God is good all the time.  He will complete me.  He will finish what he started.

At the conclusion of the message, we sang “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”  I had never realized how this passage inspired that song so much.  Such a powerful day of worship.  I keep hearing incredible stories of how God is using his Word in this church to change lives!
