It’s a new month and that means it’s time for a new focus at church. Each month, we are focusing on a specific area to really develop as a church body. Just to catch you up, here’s what we have been focusing on:
- January: Pastor – I am so thankful you allowed me to be your pastor!
- February: Website – The staff did a wonderful job at overhauling the website and the content to equip you is growing on here by the day.
- March: Services – We added an additional worship service and both of them are continuing to grow! The schedule and logistics are going great.
- April: Guests – We created a “Next Steps” process that has served guests and members alike. The system is going great! Every week, we are working with new folks who are ready to take that next step. It’s been incredible.
- May: Leadership – Today we begin the process of evaluating, equipping, and encouraging our leadership from the staff, volunteers, and teams.

and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. -2 Tim. 2:2
Since becoming a part of Rocky Creek, I have been humbled by serving among such great leadership. The staff is great. The teams are great. The volunteers are great.
So, why does this need to be a focus? Because none of us are there yet. We all need continual development.
- So this month will be a time to focus on evaluating leadership structures, systems, development, placement, etc.
- It will be a time to see where we are volunteer heavy or volunteer light and adjust.
- We will focus on equipping team leaders to equip their teams.
- Attention will be given to how we encourage and equip those that serve at Rocky Creek.
- We will outline the plans for college interns and our seminary program.
This month’s focus is critical. A church will rarely surpass the example of the leadership. We will be making pleas for our leadership to set an example onsite, offsite, and online.
God has promised a stricter judgment for those in teaching leadership positions (James 3:1). We know that those who lead should be worthy of imitation as they imitate Christ (1 Cor. 11:1). In order to make disciples, we have to ensure we have disciple-makers.
How You Can Help
- Pray. Your prayers for these emphases mean more than you know.
- Reflect. Think about your position at the church and ask if you are fulfilling the biblical expectations.
- Serve. If you haven’t found your place to serve yet, we can help you. Just take a moment and fill this out and we will get you going with your next steps.
And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. -Titus 3:14
