VERSE OF THE WEEK

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. -Romans 15:1

BOOK OF THE WEEK

Greek for Life: Strategies for Learning, Retaining, and Reviving New Testament Greek by Benjamin Merkle and Robert Plummer

Learning Greek is one thing. Retaining it and using it in preaching, teaching, and ministry is another. In this volume, two master teachers with nearly forty years of combined teaching experience inspire readers to learn, retain, and use Greek for ministry, setting them on a lifelong journey of reading and loving the Greek New Testament.

  1. Therefore the journey of learning Biblical Greek has as its goal the most important thing in all of life: the knowledge of God as revealed in the New Testament (3).
  2. The goal of the exegete is to be able to carefully evaluate the text by using all the tools at one’s disposal (5).
  3. In other words, if the activity we are doing is worthwhile, we should not be paralyzed by our inability to do it perfectly (127).

POST OF THE WEEK

Learn Biblical Greek

After reading the book above, I found this incredible site that is geared towards providing free resources to learn or review Biblical Greek.

Many students have asked, “Why should I learn to read Greek?” The simple answer is, “To read the Bible!” To the surprise of many people, God did not reveal the New Testament in English. So, to study the New Testament in all of its richness, you must learn Greek. It is our sincere desire that you find the resources below helpful in your journey to learn Biblical Greek.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Uninstall Time-Wasting Apps.  If someone printed a book of the stuff you scrolled through on social media this week, would you buy that book?  If not, then you might be wasting too much time.  If you feel like some apps are taking you away from relationships or greater pursuits that digital content, then try deleting the apps that take the most time.  If you have to get on them for some reason, get on them through a browser on the phone or computer.  You might be shocked how much time you save.
