VERSE OF THE WEEK

Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth [Hosea 6:3].

BOOK OF THE WEEK

The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer

To have found God and still to pursue Him is a paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too-easily-satisfied religious person, but justified in happy experience by the children of the burning heart.

Come near to the holy men and women of the past and you will soon feel the heat of their desire after God. Let A. W. Tozer’s pursuit of God spur you also into a genuine hunger and thirst to truly know God.

Favorite Quotes:

  1. To have found God and still to pursue is the soul’s paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too easily satisfied religionist, but justified in happy experience by the children of the burning heart (15).
  2. The instant cure of most of our religious ills would be to enter the Presence in spiritual experience, to become suddenly aware that we are in God and God is in us (36).
  3. Our pursuit of God is successful just because He is forever seeking to manifest Himself to us (61).

PODCAST OF THE WEEK

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Let us be on the watch for opportunities for usefulness; let us go about the world with our ears and our eyes open, ready to avail ourselves of every occasion for doing good; let us not be content till we are useful, but make this the main design and ambition of our lives.
-Charles Spurgeon

SONG OF THE WEEK

Lauren Daigle has a great voice and is turning out some great songs.  I have really loved the new track, “Rolling Stones.”

POST OF THE WEEK

Statement Against Social Justice Marginalizes People Who Talk About Race and Justice by Christian Post

Tim Keller’s resposne to the latest signed statement: “It’s not so much what [the statement] says, but what it does. It’s trying to marginalize people talking about race and justice, it’s trying to say, ‘You’re really not biblical’ and it’s not fair in that sense,” Keller said in a 3-minute clip from a recent session in the 2018-19 City Lab Series billed “Compassion and Justice: The Kingdom at the Margins.”

TIP OF THE WEEK

Monthly Cleanout

I make it a discipline to clean off my desk and my computer desktop at the end of the week so I don’t start the next week cluttered.  One additional item I put in my recurring to-do list is to have a monthly cleanout.  I take one item in my office or home and do a deeper organization.  It might be that drawer of file folders filling up with things that could be discarded.  It might be the bookshelves that have gotten cluttered.  It might be a closet that you need to get rid of some things in it.  Organizing everything is too difficult of a task.  Take one area a month and clean it out.
