People don’t give to church because we don’t offer them a compelling vision of the good their giving will achieve.
Hearing a young attorney speak of the faithbased reasons for which he had just made a substantial monetary gift to a community youth center, Clif Christopher asked the speaker if he would consider making a similar contribution to the congregation of which he was an active member. “Lord, no they would not know what to do with it” was the answer. That, in a nutshell, describes the problem churches are facing in their stewardship efforts, says Christopher. Your Teenager’s Addiction to Technology by Alex Gore
In the parenting matters series Rocky Creek provided for families, Ministry Intern Alex Gore discussed the urgency of parents knowing how social media, technology, and gaming are impacting student’s biblical worldview. Alex informed parents about the seriousness of this issue. He told parents about different social apps that have been linked to depression, insecurity, cyberbullying, idolization of self, authoritative matters, and many other emotions. The apps he connected to the byproducts of social media were: Twitter, Kik (messenger), Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, VSCO, Tinder, Badoo, Meetme, Bumble, and Vault (Hides pictures). Furthermore, he stated that the biblical worldview had been tainted due to student’s believing what social media tells them and shows them.Â
Tip of the Week
Plan for the Delay
Too many times we get stressed by time constrictions based on other people or circumstances beyond our control. Â Do you plan for the delay by leaving early or preparing ahead of time? Â Delays are going to happen, so it might be best to plan accordingly. Â
