Flood

After Adam and Eve’s eviction out of Eden, sin continued to run rampant while corrupting God’s good Creation. Through the flood, God made a statement very clearly in that He doesn’t play around with sin.

Cain and Abel

  • The first children of Creation reveal how sin is severely corrupting Mankind.
  • The problem was not in the type of offering but the quality of the offering.
  • Throughout the Old Testament, God warned about giving “leftovers.”
  • Cain murdered his brother Abel who was created in God’s image.

After the 1st Murder

  1. Restorative worship begins (Gen. 4:26).
  2. Adam creates son in his own image (Gen. 5:3).
  3. God is so grieved over the increasing wickedness, He plans to destroy this once good earth (Gen. 6:7).

Noah and the Ark

  1. This story is not a cute tale for children. It reveals the immense wrath of God.
  2. Noah was spared by God because he found favor with Him (Gen. 6:8).
  3. Even though Noah was favored, he was not sinless even after watching God pour out His wrath on sinners.
  4. God promises never to destroy the earth again – by flood (Gen. 9:15).

The Tower of Babel

  1. People try to reach God by their own efforts and ingenuity at the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11).
  2. They desired security, so they built a city so they wouldn’t be dispersed (Gen. 11:4).
  3. They desired the comfort of home, but God wanted them to spread His glory everywhere (Gen. 9:7).
  4. They desired glory, so their efforts were an attempt to make a name for themselves (Gen. 11:4).
  5. God stops the rate of sin by separating them and making their speech like “babble” (Gen. 11:7).
  6. On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit began the reversal of Babel (Acts 2).
  7. In heaven, Babel’s reversal will be complete (Rev. 7:9; 21:2).
