Why Do I Feel Disconnected at Church?

As a church grows larger, how do you avoid getting lost in the crowd? Our relationships in the church will only grow according to how intentional we are.

Current Trend

  • The larger a church becomes, the easier it is to remain anonymous.
  • People expect to make instant relationships with a church without the patient intentionality that is necessary.
  • Discipleship doesn’t happen because you are on a roster but because you are in relationships.
  • Biblical information does not guarantee biblical transformation.

Biblical Example [Heb. 10:19-25]

Heb. 10:19-25

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus,20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

  • A full assurance of faith should lead to a full commitment to one another (10:19-24).
  • If we want to avoid wavering in our faith, we must walk alongside others who desire the same thing (10:23).
  • Your Christian maturity will be gauged by how intentional you are at developing it in others (10:24).
  • Daily circumstances require daily encouragement (10:25).
