Exchanging Envy

We live in a culture of comparison. Everywhere we turn, we are reminded of people who have more chiseled bodies, more attractive features, luxurious homes, expensive vehicles, and exquisite toys. Jealousy can ruin us. It’s time to go the second mile in exchanging envy.

Proverbs 14:30 – A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.

Proverbs 27:4 – Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?

Envy

  1. Tells you that you don’t have enough
  2. Tells you that you deserve what others have
  3. Tells you that the material is important
  4. Tells you that you aren’t enough
  5. Tells you that you won’t be enough until you get one more thing

Gratitude

  1. Tells you that you do have enough
  2. Tells you that you don’t deserve what you do have
  3. Tells you that the eternal is important
  4. Tells you that you are enough
  5. Tells you that you are enough because Jesus says you are
