No more happenstance growth, we must be intentional to experience strategic formation in our discipleship. Let your spiritually frustrated fatigue launch you out of complacency and into maturity.

The Need for Growth 

• It’s OK to feel stagnate, but it’s unacceptable to stay that way.
• If you feel disappointed with your current level of devotion, you can probably guarantee that God would agree with you.
• The Christian life should be marked by gradual yet continual progress.
• Your lack of growth might not be a devotion issue but a discipleship issue.

The Process for Growth 

To them, God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me (Col. 1:27-29).

  • A disciple must possess an endearing delight at the opportunity to follow Jesus.

• Disobedience
  • “Warning everyone”
  • A disciple must commit to warring against any disobedience in his or her life.
  • What besetting sin must be addressed before it unravels you?
• Doctrine
  • “Teaching everyone with all wisdom”
  • A disciple must commit to studying a biblical doctrine thoroughly.
  • What doctrinal issue do you need to study in order to embrace personally or share confidently?
• Development
  • “Present everyone mature in Christ”
  • Discipleship must address areas of calling with the intention to bring about ministry development.
  • What do I need to mature in considering my relationships or responsibilities?
• Discipline
  • “For this I toil”
  • Discipleship must train in areas of spiritual discipline for continual growth.
  • What single spiritual discipline should I focus on to see significant progress?
• Dependence 
  • “Struggling with all his energy”
  • Discipleship must continually acknowledge the complete dependence upon Jesus for the believer’s maturity.
  • What am I praying for God to do for which only He could get the credit?
