North Side’s senior pastor, Jeff Lethco, does a lot of things well. Recently, he added authoring to his credits as he finished his first book, Before You Change a Thing.
Book description:
Church leaders today are being bombarded by a growing number of voices about how to lead effectively. Unfortunately, some things that need to be said aren’t being said at all. And if they are, they aren’t being said loudly enough. This books examines eight truths that can empower any church leader in any church setting to succeed in their calling while remaining true to themselves, true to their church, and most importantly, true to God and His principles for spiritual leadership.
North Side made a bunch of transitions. We still are. Yet, due to God’s grace and a great leader, we have maintained who we are while changing some of what we do. Hard balance to make.
I write this today when our Southern Baptist Convention is having their annual meeting. Jeff is in attendance and there is much disagreement over certain actions the convention should take. In a time when the harvest is ripe, we need leaders who aren’t ashamed of moving forward if there is legitimate reason to do so. I see so many church leaders try to be edgy (and I said “try” on purpose) for no reason at all. The desire is to be different or hip without purpose of transforming lives. I also see church leaders stuck in their ways so much that they will disagree with anything that disrupts tradition.
Brothers and sisters, we must start living and leading in such a way that allow the methods to change while keeping the message intact. I am so thankful to follow a pastor who exemplifies this. If you haven’t picked up your copy of Jeff’s book yet, you can do so at Amazon or at North Side’s bookstore. Great read that will challenge and equip any church leader or volunteer who wants to improve their church without losing everybody.
It’s wild to think that I released Freshman 15 a year ago. As graduation time approaches, if you need a book for a graduating senior, you might think about giving this a try. I wrote it in part because I got so many books that were a tad fluffy when I graduated. They were high on the encouragement to “survive” college, but what I wanted was someone to tell me straight up what the Bible said about key issues.
Written as a guide for college students and graduating high schools seniors, this book encourages Christians to give weight to Christ in fifteen crucial areas during this pivotal time.
Chapters:
The book can be done by yourself, or it also contains study guide questions for each chapter so it could be done in a Bible study group, class, or accountability partners.
Order Freshman 15 here, Amazon.com, or you can get one at North Side’s bookstore. Hope it blesses you or your loved graduate!
Today is the day! ”Coming Home” is available for your listening pleasure. We are so pleased with how this project came out, and we pray that this CD will be a blessing to you. We pray that it will call you closer in worship, encourage you to say “yes” to God’s call, and think seriously about your role concerning the 143 million orphans in the world.
The proceeds of this album go to help our adoption fund for bringing Eli home from Ethiopia. So just by downloading one track, you are a part of him coming home – thanks!
The easiest way for me to release the album is through Bandcamp. It is a secure site in which you can download one track, an album, or a bunch of albums.
Here’s the rundown:
I think that is it. You can listen to the tracks below and download them from this page. If you want more music, go to the music page at the top or go to travisagnew.bandcamp.com.
I would love to hear your feedback! Tell me what your favorite track is! Thanks for listening.
Last night, I got the privilege to take some friends to Passion 2011 Live Link. The event was hosted at Center Stage in Atlanta but was being broadcasted all over the world. Passion was celebrating their CD release, “Awakening,” which is out today. So thousands of people joined in live over the internet from all over the world. We were so privileged to be a part of the few hundred at the live venue. It was a blast.
You might be wondering how I got to be a part of this privileged group – I don’t really know. I’ve supported Passion ministries over the years by sending lots of students, so I think this was a way to say thanks by allowing me to bring people to the event. The group that went with me sure thinks I’m something now since they felt like VIPs. It was just an honor to worship alongside the quality people that went with me. Just to be in the presence of Jesus is enough though.
But OG will never be the same after meeting Matt Redman in the parking garage. ”Dude, he’s so famous. Everytime I meet a famous person, I have a nervous breakdown. I’m going to have one again just thinking about it.”
We were led by Louie Giglio, Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, Matt Redman, and Kristain Stanfill, and they played most of the songs off of the new CD release. I would really recommend you pick up these 12 incredible new worship anthems. You can get it on Amazon or iTunes or we will have it in the bookstore soon.
And if you want to see the live event, it is up for 24 hours here at this link: http://livelink.268generation.com/
Last night, as I worshiped alongside a few hundred rowdy people and joined electronically by thousands of others, I thought what a great time it is to be alive. Never has the church had such a worldwide opportunity. Let’s make the most of it!
