Your Leadership Circle

In John Maxwell’s book, entitled Developing the Leaders Around You, he focused on the intentional development of other potential leaders.  In one lesson, Maxwell stated,

“The greatest leadership principle I have ever learned in over twenty-five years of leadership is that those closest to the leader will determine the success level of that leader.”

While I truly believe that previous statement, my current practice would reveal that I believe that the quality of a specific leader will determine the success level of that leader.  I struggle with intentionally developing those around me.  Since I have such a great desire for personal progress and love a sense of closure, I often neglect developing other people in order to empower them for greater service.  Maxwell’s thought really challenged me to rethink how to be effective in ministry by means of multiplication.
