Abbeville Spring Festival 2014

We were so grateful to be able to play at the Abbeville Spring Festival on Thursday night.  It is always a special endeavor to play outside the walls of a church building and engage some new folks.

Concentrating was a little difficult as I smelled the alligator-on-a-stick stand a little ways from us and heard the screams of those on the rides down the square.  It was a great atmosphere though.

As we set up, the sky was very overcast and it looked as if it would rain.  We did a soundcheck and as soon as we started playing the sun literally burst through the clouds on the right of the stage.  I could see that some people were a little taken aback by it because it was somewhat drastic like someone had started using the light board with a high-powered light that could be seen in the brightness of day.

After our set, someone came up to me and said, “Did you see how the sun did that when ya’ll got up there?  It was like the glory of God came on Abbeville Square!”

I chuckled, but then had some of the greatest conversations with folks afterwards.

Some of my concluding comments were, “If you don’t have a church home, we would love for you to visit with us, but if you do have a church home, get there on Sunday.”  I then discussed briefly the big “C” Church mentality and we led in the final set of worship.

It was a great night of worshiping with people I consider family.  It was a great time getting to meet and encourage some new faces.  It was great to sing as a big “C” Church out there with people from all different walks of life.  Grateful.
