The Source of Temptation

I love Jesus and his Word!  He is using his Word to grow us up in Christ.

We focused on “The Source of Temptation.”

James 1:15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

We started our services with baptism.  Then we sang “Victory in Jesus.”  After that, we sang “Amazed” for the second time.  The church has grabbed it and singing along great!

We then had a time of personal confession through a prayer time.  It was a great way to get people to stop and reflect on the grace of Jesus.  It led us to then sing “O the Blood” with a tag of “Nothing But the Blood.”

As we took the offering, I explained the 5th song we have shared from “The Word” which is entitled “How We’ve Fallen.”  It is the account of Adam and Eve falling into temptation in the Garden of Eden.  Amanda led the song with me and it is a stark contrast from the songs around it in the project.  We wanted it to be stripped down and feel like this duo had just been kicked out of the Garden.  It went great with the biblical text from today.

Jeff’s message on temptation was very practical and helpful.  James showed how temptation can grab us and cause us to experience different types of death as we fall away from God’s Word.

As an invitation, we sang “Lord, I Need You” and it was a powerful time of worship and prayer.

I pray that our church can continue to fight against temptation.  Not for our reputations but for the glory of God’s name.  Pray that you can fight against temptation this week!
