When Nature Steals Our Song

While we were made to worship, we often neglect the blessed opportunity. If we look around us, we discover that even nature will sing our song if we refuse to do so.

9 You visit the earth and water it abundantly,
enriching it greatly.
God’s stream is filled with water,
for you prepare the earth in this way,
providing people with grain.
10 You soften it with showers and bless its growth,
soaking its furrows and leveling its ridges.
11 You crown the year with your goodness;
your carts overflow with plenty.
12 The wilderness pastures overflow,
and the hills are robed with joy.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks
and the valleys covered with grain.
They shout in triumph; indeed, they sing.

Psalm 65:9-13

When David penned this worship song, he concluded it with some guest vocalists.

  • He highlighted that the wilderness’s barren places could be transformed into overflowing sources.
  • The hills display a type of surprising joy about them.
  • While dangers abound to threaten the flocks, sheep yet fill the pastures.
  • Even the valleys are producing grain for our enjoyment.

And what do all of these creations do? “They shout in triumph; indeed, they sing” (Ps. 65:13).

If we don’t sing, nature will do it for us!

When you look at creation, do you hear their song? As you behold the world God made and the sources for our lives He included, do you hear the soundtrack playing? Do you hear the worship set that nature is leading? It’s an ongoing playlist proclaiming the uninterrupted goodness of our God.

We are here today because He ensures it. It’s always appropriate to thank God for His provision.

What specific reasons do you have today to express your gratitude to God?
