I’m excited to share an initiative that some ministry friends have been collaborating on: Bike for Bibles.
We are creating a charity event for April 12, 2025, to mobilize Greenville County and beyond to ride miles on their bikes to translate the Bible into another language. There are 985 languages still without a translation of God’s Word, and we want to do something about that.
I can’t answer all your questions today, but I had to share what has been cooking. The concept is that $35 translates into one verse. You can register to ride one mile at that cost and help knock one verse off the list. You can get sponsored for $70 to cover two verses, and so on.
If we have 7,957 miles ridden and sponsored, we can translate an entire New Testament!
Since it is impossible to have a course where avid cyclists and young children can ride together, we will encourage you to pick your own starting line and meet us at the joint finish line.
We will have a target time to finish near downtown, where we will have worship, prayer, and a reveal of how much was raised.
Registration will be available soon, but I wanted to share the news and ask for your prayers.
We need:
- CYCLISTS who will ride,
- CONTRIBUTORS who will sponsor, and
- CHURCHES who will budget to cover a chapter or a book (for example, I’m trying to raise the money to fund a book of the Bible, I’m preaching through next year).
Bike for Bibles is an initiative to raise awareness and support for Bible translation. For each mile you ride and fund, you can translate a verse of Scripture into another language.
We hope you can join us!
