The Story of the Bible (Series Overview)

October 23, 2025

The Bible isn’t a random collection of stories; it’s one unified story pointing to Jesus Christ. Join us for The Story of the Bible, a four-week journey through creation, corruption, crucifixion, and commission to see how God’s plan of redemption weaves through every page of Scripture.

Background

Years ago, I was asked to preach through the entire narrative of Scripture at a statewide college conference. I had already attempted to summarize the story of the Bible in a single sermon, but spreading it across four messages over a weekend presented a fun and meaningful challenge. That experience turned into one of the most memorable ministry weekends I’ve had. Since then, I’ve been asked to teach it again, and at this time, I felt the content was important enough to walk through with our church family with this particular breakdown.

While many people know individual events described within the Bible (Noah’s ark, David and Goliath, Daniel in the lion’s den, etc.), few understand how those stories fit together. The Bible isn’t a collection of random tales or moral lessons; it’s one unified story centered on Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, God reveals His plan to redeem His people and restore His creation.

Overview

This four-week series, The Story of the Bible, will help us see how every page of Scripture points to God’s relentless grace and His redemptive plan through Jesus. Whether you’ve been reading the Bible for years or are just getting started, this journey will help you see the whole picture and invite others to see it too.

10.26.25 // Creation // Deuteronomy 4:32–35

From the beginning, God graciously created an opportunity to know Him. No matter how frequent humanity’s rebellion proved to be, God remained relentless in seeking redemption.

11.02.25 // Corruption // Judges 21:24–25

The people of God progressively pushed against the ways of God and pursued the ways of the world. The further they drifted, the more apparent their need for a Savior became.

11.09.25 // Crucifixion // John 1:9–14

Since we could not reach heaven, the Son of God came to us. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus changed everything.

11.16.25 // Commission // Acts 1:6–11

Until Christ returns, He has called us to go with the gospel until all have heard. Our lives are purposed to join Him in making disciples of all nations.

This is more than a sermon series: it’s an invitation to see the whole story of Scripture and how your story fits within it. From creation to commission, every part of God’s Word leads us to Jesus and sends us on mission with Him.
