My wife does a fantastic job of teaching our children to appreciate their father. Â They are regularly expressing gratitude for providing for them. Â It’s a sweet thing, but it does have its consequences.
The other morning I was getting the kids dressed and ready for the day when Eli asked his daily question.
“Dad, do you have to go to work today?”
“Yeah, buddy. Â I have to go to work today.”
“Ah, man! Â I want you to stay home with me.”
While I am having my recurring daily sweet moment with Eli, Obadiah joins the conversation like a bull in a china shop.
“Woo hoo!”
“Obie, what are you excited about?”
“I’m excited you are going to work today.”
“Well, gee, thanks. Â You don’t want me to stay home?”
“If you stay home, you don’t make any money. Â And if you don’t make any money, I don’t eat. Â And I love eating!”
You can’t make this stuff up. Â I love being a dad.
