Storms Still Know His Voice

August 16, 2026

Luke 8:22-25 – Jesus calmed a raging storm with a word. The storms you face today still answer to the same voice that spoke peace over the waves.

Observations

  • You can be exactly where Jesus told you to be and still find yourself in a storm (8:22-23).
  • Opposition often increases when Jesus’ mission advances (8:22-23; cf. 8:26-39).
  • What terrified the disciples was no trouble for Jesus (8:23-24).
  • Our faith falters whenever panic replaces petition (8:24-25).
  • It’s a sad commentary when creation hears and obeys Jesus better than His followers do (8:24-25; cf. 8:21).
  • The greatest wonder wasn’t the calm sea but the One who commanded it (8:24-25).

Applications

  • Never abandon following Jesus just because the conditions worsen.
  • Don’t resent the storms that reveal something about Jesus you would never discover on calm waters.
  • Never assume what is outside your control is beyond Jesus’ command.
