This upcoming Sunday we are starting a new series entitled “Tempted.” This 2-week focus will help believers utilize methods to combat temptation.
We often blame our circumstances when we mess up. Sometimes we say “the Devil made me do it.” But each of us are tempted, and each of us always has a way out of escape for every temptation (1 Cor. 10:31).
A common misconception is that if we refrain from indulging in temptation, we are missing out on something pleasurable. Quite honestly, when we refrain from temptation, we are not choosing something lackluster in return. We are choosing Jesus over that temptation! And that is always far more satisfying!
So, if you are ever tempted, you need to come. If you feel like you don’t struggle with temptation, you need to come (cause you are in major trouble). If you want to bring someone along who is trying to get a hold of their lives, bring ’em.
And if you really want to go down this path of living a holy life, begin to pray this week for these 2 weeks that our church will prize eternal holiness over momentary pleasure.
