Great day to celebrate the life in our church! We started the services out with a piano Christmas instrumental. Inspired by the Piano Guys, we wanted to come up with our own arrangement of Christmas carols but take the lid off the piano and get a bit creative. The biblical call is to “play skillfully on the strings” (Psalm 33:3) and that’s what we tried to do. We used muted strings, hand slides, beats, a violin bow, and a few other things to make it interesting.
In the 11:00 service, Jeff asked, “How many Baptists does it take to play a piano?”
Apparently, 5.
We got to participate in family dedications which are always a precious time. Love watching our families rally around what it means to live for Christ in the home.
The congregation sang out on a bluegrass arrangement of “Angels from the Realms of Glory” and Paul Balcoche’s “Christmas Offering” song. Loved hearing our family pour out in worship.
The a cappella group “One Heart” also helped lead us in worship this morning. They were fantastic as always. I loved their renditions of “Sweet Little Jesus Boy” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
Just so you know, One Heart made a Christmas CD last year and is available in the North Side bookstore as well as the other Christmas worship music from North Side Worship.
Jeff’s message was so helpful. Pain is written into our lives for God’s glory. We will suffer in this life, but it is better to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
We closed the service with One Heart leading us in “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus.” Such a special day as our church celebrated Jesus!
