God has reminded me yet again of what really matters in ministry. I often get caught up in the programs of ministry, I lose sight of the people. It’s a constant, tragic flaw of mine. But I was reminded this week at our youth worship service, the Peak, about why I do what I do.
One kid was sitting off by himself. I didn’t have time to go talk to him – I honestly did not have the time. But I made it. I showed in an ounce of attention and he started sharing his life story with me – family struggles, school situations, spiritual stuff – just because I took the time to listen.
Those are the moments that really matter in ministry. But when I don’t have time for them, I am NOT doing ministry.
