Eagerly Compassionate

Galatians 5:13-15 – Grace changes our status with God, but it should also alter the way we interact with others. We are free to live eagerly compassionate lives, loving our neighbors as ourselves.

Observations

  • Overcorrecting a spiritual problem can lead to a different but equally dangerous one
    • Legalism makes obedience a prerequisite.
    • Liberalism makes obedience an option.
    • Loyalism makes obedience a response.
  • Jesus didn’t go to the cross so you could cling to what put Him there.
  • I’m free—not to do what I want, but to do what you need.
  • Eager compassion for others is a sign of spiritual health.
  • Keep tearing people down, and soon there’ll be no one left to stand with you.

Applications

  • You misunderstand freedom when you treat it as a license to sin.
  • Love others with the same intentional care you wish someone showed you.
  • Be careful what you say and how you say it.
