There’s Peace to Be Had

December 21, 2025

Luke 2:1-20 – The angels announced the birth of Jesus to those who were least likely to receive such glorious news. Christ’s incarnation brings peace to a chaotic earth that longs for something more.

Peace isn’t something you control but Someone you behold.

An Empire Offering Peace (Luke 2:1–5)

  • The world seeks peace by gaining power, enforcing control, and silencing opposition (1–2).
  • God sovereignly uses human pride to fulfill His divine promises (3; cf. Mic. 5:2).
  • Earthly rulers pull strings for a moment, but all will eventually and eternally bow to the true King (4–5).

A Savior Bringing Peace (Luke 2:6–14)

  • Jesus entered the world’s grime without hesitation (6–7).
  • God looks upon the overlooked and brings His glory to the margins (8–9).
  • Peace is found not by changing your circumstances, but by beholding the Christ (10–14).

A People Going in Peace (Luke 2:15–20)

  • Don’t ignore the invitation to encounter Jesus up close and personal (15–16).
  • Those who encounter Christ cannot help but speak of Him (17–18).
  • God’s peace travels with us into ordinary life, not away from it (19–20).
