Weeping & Wonder

July 12, 2026

Psalm 42:1-11 – A discouraged psalmist wrestles with spiritual dryness while longing again for God’s presence. Even in seasons of weeping, hold on to the wonder of the God who meets you in the depths.

Feelings fluctuate, but God’s faithfulness never does.

Keep Longing (1-3)

  • Long for God’s presence more than your problems’ absence.
  • Don’t mistake spiritual dryness for God’s absence.

Keep Remembering (4-8)

  • Don’t let how you feel determine what you believe.
  • When the storm won’t let up, God’s love won’t let go.

Keep Hoping (9-11)

  • Let your deepest questions draw you closer to God, not farther from Him.
  • Hope isn’t waiting for life to get better; it’s trusting God until it does.

God, I need You. I remember You. I trust You.

If Downcast (Or Helping Someone Who Is)

  • Keep pursuing God earnestly and honestly.
  • Keep gathering with God’s people.
  • Keep rehearsing the truth to yourself.
  • Keep hoping until your feelings catch up with the truth.
