My wife does a fantastic job of teaching our children to appreciate their father. They are regularly expressing gratitude for providing for them. It’s a sweet thing, but it does have its consequences.
The other morning I was getting the kids dressed and ready for the day when Eli asked his daily question.
“Dad, do you have to go to work today?”
“Yeah, buddy. I have to go to work today.”
“Ah, man! I want you to stay home with me.”
While I am having my recurring daily sweet moment with Eli, Obadiah joins the conversation like a bull in a china shop.
“Obie, what are you excited about?”
“I’m excited you are going to work today.”
“Well, gee, thanks. You don’t want me to stay home?”
“If you stay home, you don’t make any money. And if you don’t make any money, I don’t eat. And I love eating!”
You can’t make this stuff up. I love being a dad.
