Mighty God

Today was a fun day at North Side.  Filling in for Jeff, I preached on our “Mighty God.”  I think sometimes we develop a small perception of God and it leads us to live faithless lives.  My prayer is that we would walk away with a huge perception of our mighty God.

I preached on Matthew 14-15 where Jesus fed the five thousand and then the four thousand.  So many times in our lives we are overwhelmed with our current circumstances and forgetful of all the ways God has shown up in the past.

My conclusion was bit of a risk.  I was unsure how everyone was going to engage at the end of the message.  I was blown away!  I was so grateful in all three services that people genuinely responded.  Such heartfelt, lavish praise is the only way to respond when we lift Jesus up high!  In fact, I got so into it each time, I forgot my place in my conclusion.  I left out a few paragraphs in about each service, but if you pasted them altogether, you would probably have the complete resume of our mighty God.  Well, it would only be a fraction of how he truly needs to be described (John 21:25)!

If you didn’t get to hear the message, you can listen to it here.

Today, the band led these songs:

  • Angels We Have Heard on High – Hillsong
  • Christ is Come – Big Daddy Weave
  • Come Thou Long Expected Jesus – Traditional
  • Silent Night/Away in a Manger – Traditional
  • How Great is Our God – Chris Tomlin
