We finished up our “Church Matters” series today as we focused on “The Discipline of the Church.” This isn’t a topic you would normally hear about in a sermon series on the church, but if we neglect this issue we are avoiding a serious issue in the New Testament.
Jeff mentioned in his very practical sermon on this matter that we have replaced God today with the god of tolerance. America’s favorite verse to quote is “judge not” and it is taken out of context and not understood. If we don’t keep one another accountable within the church then our witness and stand in the world weakens.
Today, we worshiped to:
- Words of Life – North Side Worship
- Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies) – Chris Tomlin
- Make Me Holy – North Side Worship
- Friend of Sinners – North Side Worship
- All to Us – Chris Tomlin
It was a great time of worship as we focused on God’s Word applied in our lives. We built the service around that theme of obedience to God’s Word.
By the way, Jeff probably made you super curious about that video from his message today. Here is the link to the video on what probably not to do concerning church discipline.
Lee Salisbury gave us a testimony from his summer in the Philippines. It was great to hear of his ever-growing love for the gospel, the nations, and our church family.
Join us tonight for our Baptism and Bruster’s service at 7PM on the front steps. Connect is at 6PM for those interested in joining North Side.
We start a new series next week entitled “Stand Firm” as we study through 1 Peter. Can’t wait!
