Ecclesiastes 9:11-10:20 – While limited to how much wisdom we can possess, we should use well what insight God grants us. God’s wisdom can help us avoid doing stupid stuff that causes pain to ourselves and others.
Listen
- Since life is unpredictable, realize that wisdom commonly outlasts resources (9:11-18).
- A little stupidity can complicate a reputation thoroughly (10:1-3).
- Don’t let an authoritative position permit unbecoming behavior (10:4-7).
- Even the most capable people in the world need to take precautions (10:8-11).
- Your speech develops your reputation (10:12-15).
- If indulgence is the goal of a leader, the entire organization will suffer (10:16-17).
- Negligence will add more worries to your life (10:18-19).
- The best way to avoid the consequences of gossip is to stop gossiping (10:20).
Consider
- Promotion – How you conduct yourself after a promotion determines how well you deserve it.
- Preparation – Don’t add extra drama in a troublesome world by excusing laziness.
- Presentation – If you desire a more peaceful life, use more gracious speech.
- Doing all the wise things will not guarantee an easy life.
- Doing all the stupid things will guarantee a more challenging life.
