I was seven years old when I “became a Christian.” That’s how my church described it. I believed what I was told, repeated the standardized prayer, got baptized, and honestly thought I had completed the process. I figured that was it—box checked, heaven secured, and I could move on.
But I didn’t move on. And that was kind of the problem. As a teenager, I started to notice a gap between what I said I believed and how I was actually living. If I was really going to follow Jesus, it meant some things in my life had to start changing—and some things had to stop. My faith wasn’t just a decision I had made. It needed to grow. I needed to grow.
It wasn’t until much later that I realized I hadn’t finished something that day—I had just barely begun. I had started a journey I didn’t fully understand. No one told me that following Jesus wasn’t just about a single momentary decision. It was about a lifetime of progression.
That’s what this book is about. It’s not about getting you to begin your faith. It’s about helping you continue it. Because the goal isn’t just believing in Jesus once. It’s learning to walk with Him every day.
Maybe your story is like mine. You’ve had the moment. You made the decision. But now you’re wondering what comes next. I’d love to introduce you to the biblical concept that can improve your life and change the world. That principle is called discipleship.
The goal is to become more like Jesus, step by step. But that doesn’t happen by accident. You need more than good intentions. You need an intentional plan.
It’s easy to get lost in general concepts or church programs, but what you really need is something personal. A way to grow that actually fits where you are right now, not where someone else is.
Many Christians know they’re supposed to grow in their faith, but most aren’t exactly sure how. You want to follow Jesus more closely, but with all the options and distractions, it’s easy to feel stuck or unsure of the next step. The issue might not be your desire—it might just be your direction.
Spiritual growth isn’t one-size-fits-all. Everyone starts in a different place. You’ve got your own mix of life experiences, personal wins, ongoing struggles, and nagging questions. And that’s okay. Just like you can’t give someone directions without knowing where they’re starting, you can’t move forward in your faith unless you’re honest about where you are right now.
You don’t have to figure it all out at once. You don’t need to be perfect or fix everything overnight. Just take one step. One intentional step toward Jesus. That’s how real growth happens.
Once you’ve figured that out, you’re in the perfect position to help someone else take a step. That’s what I want to help you do.
