After months of preaching through the book of Galatians, we came to its conclusion in yesterday’s sermon. As Paul closed the book, he invited us to stop boasting in ourselves and start boasting in the cross. As I wrapped up the series, I shared this reflection as a way to capture the heart of the gospel.
If I’m going to boast about anything…
It won’t be about what I can do, but about what He has done.
It won’t be about what I can provide, but about what He has promised.
It won’t be about what I can fill up, but about what He has poured out.
If I’m going to boast about anything…
It won’t be about my plan, but about His power.
It won’t be about my trends, but about His truth.
It won’t be about my recognition, but about His renown.
If I’m going to boast about anything…
It won’t be about my progression, but about His perfection.
It won’t be about my fame, but about His name.
It won’t be about my story, but about His glory.
If I’m going to boast about anything…
It won’t be about my works, but about His grace.
It won’t be about my flesh, but about His Spirit.
It won’t be about my life, but about His death.
If I’m going to boast about anything…
It won’t be about my polished crown, but about His rugged cross.
It won’t be about my long life, but about His empty tomb.
It won’t be about my good condition, but about His great commission.
If I’m going to boast about anything…
It won’t be about the platform I stand on, but about the throne He reigns from.
It won’t be about my climb to the top, but about His descent from the skies.
It won’t be about the uncertainty of my arrival, but about the guarantee of His return.
If I’m going to boast about anything…
It won’t be about any name that goes out of style,
but about the only name that stays worthwhile — Jesus.

Worthwhile Boasting
Galatians 6:11-18 – Instead of bragging about what we can do in our lives, we should focus on what Christ did through His death. The cross of Jesus is the only worthwhile boasting we should communicate.
