Psalm 14:1-7 – David laments a world where people live as if God does not exist. Don’t succumb to the foolishness in this age of unbelief.
The rejection of God leads to the corruption of self.
The Foolish Progression (14:1-4)
- Denial (14:1a) – The problem is not a lack of evidence for God, but a desire to live without Him.
- Depravity (14:1b-3) – Ignoring God’s authority leads to personal rebellion and cultural corruption.
- Disdain (14:4) – Those who reject God eventually resent those who represent Him.
I don’t want God’s presence. → I don’t want God’s rules. → I can’t stand God’s people.
The Final Outcome (14:5-7)
- Dread (14:5-6) – You can ignore God for a lifetime, but you cannot escape Him forever.
- Deliverance (14:7) – The answer to our rebellion was not God’s absence, but Christ’s arrival.
You pay for your sins ← Answer to God → Christ paid for your sins
The salvation of Christ leads to the restoration of self.
