Knowing Jesus Weekend Recap

In January of 2012, our worship team began studying Scripture and writing music to chronicle the life of Jesus.  During Easter weekend, we presented our King as passionately and skillfully as we were able.  Both Friday and Saturday night were full of visitors and worshipers.  Those who knew the story well and those who were being introduced to it for the first time.  People who had never walked into a church in their entire lives and people who were following along in their Bibles as we proclaimed the truth.

I am still trying to process everything that went down, but here’s what I know for sure:

  • Jesus is worth it.  Every bit of time that went into details was worth it.  I can’t even begin to put a number to the time that was spent on every lyric down to every media transition.  Every element was thought through relentlessly.
  • I serve with the best team in the world.  We had over 100 people who were very involved in leading the presentation.  They put in so many hours and had the best attitudes in the world.  It was incredible serving with them, sharing communion with them, and ministering with them.  I am blessed they let me be a part of it all.
  • Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.  I can’t begin to tell you the obstacles thrown our way as we worked on this.  Personal attacks.  Sickness.  Bat infestation (I’m serious about that one).  And yet, Jesus showed Himself strong time and time again.
  • My favorite track is the congregation.  In case you missed the news, we recorded video and audio from that weekend and we are in the process of putting it into a double-disc CD and DVD.  While I am blown away by how solid our musicians sounded and the quality of their work, my favorite track is hearing the congregation sing and rejoice at the truths of God’s Word.  There is something special about listening to God’s people worship and it was captured over those nights.  Can’t wait for you to hear and see it!

I will continue to share what is next for this presentation and also what is next for our worship ministry, but right now I’m thankful.  I’m currently deep in the process of getting these resources ready, and haven’t had a real chance to even update how those nights went until now.

I can’t say thank you to our team enough for the hours of hard work.  I can’t begin to tell you the incredible words of encouragement I have received concerning those lives who were changed by the gospel.  And I can’t describe how grateful I am that Jesus would even save someone like me.

I am humbled to be found in the lifelong pursuit of knowing Jesus.
