Yes, it’s true. Today is my birthday. I am a whopping 28 years old today. So much to be thankful for, I thought I would list 28 reasons why on the 28th of July I am a grateful man:
- “But God demonstrated His love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)!
- My wife loves me more than I could ever have imagined being loved.
- My remarkably cute and joyful and compassionate son, Obadiah.
- Encouraging words from life change associated with Sunday’s message.
- Having become an uncle of a beautiful little girl, Harper.
- Embarking upon a huge initiative to improve this website.
- Hearing that Freshman 15 has helped people give glory to Jesus (and it is #993,109 ranked in Books right now – it moved up!).
- Bike rides.
- Working with a group who loves Jesus and his church.
- The Chick-fil-a milkshake I am getting for my birthday lunch.
- Hopefully seeing graduation in December and turning everything in September 1.
- Getting to write to help out marriages in 2500 churches through LifeWay.
- I’ve got a big family that loves me.
- The Magnificat.
- I’ve lost 13 pounds in the last couple of months.
- I changed lawn mower blades for the first time last week.
- The Elephant in the Pew is storming Greenwood soon.
- I’m working in the studio for a Christmas CD.
- I have some great mentors pouring into my life right now.
- I lead worship with a band that leads in worship on stage and with their lives.
- God is further breaking my heart for the nations – I must be involved even greater in the needs of this world.
- I finally understand this year what this means.
- My wife bought me my favorite snack for my birthday, Mike-n-Ikes.
- The continued favor of God on North Side Baptist Church.
- “The Time is Now” CD that was released this year has received so much encouraging feedback.
- The unity at Submerge.
- Another year to follow Jesus.
- I asked God to save 28 people today for a birthday present. At His rate, He’s already way surpassed that one. Thanks so much, Dad. You are still my favorite.

It’s your Golden Birthday! You’re turning 28 on the 28th! Kyle had his last year — turned 25 on June 25th! 🙂
(I’d never heard of this concept either. It was introduced to us by the college students who were living with us for the summer in 2008.)
Happy, happy Birthday, Travis! You are such an inspiration and encourager…and one with a very powerful messageto share. Thank you for all you do & continue to do for those of us at North Side. 🙂

Happy Birthday! You have the same birthday as my oldest child Mary Katherine. She turned 11 today!
