We are just a little over a month from Lander University being back in session and I am so excited to be able to teach Intro to the New Testament this coming semester. This will be my first time teaching this course. In the past, I have taught World Religions, Sacred Texts & Ideas, and Intro to the Old Testament.
As of the time of this writing, I only have 6 seats remaining before they cap off the class, so there still is time for any of you wanting to take the course.
My approach in teaching will be like the approach I took in the Old Testament. Instead of speeding through book by book, topic by topic, we are going to take a narrative theology approach.
That means that we will aim for students to walk away able to tell the entirety of the narrative contained within the New Testament.
I summarized the New Testament with 15 key words. There is probably a better 15, but these are the ones I use for right now. We will work our way through the narrative and expand on what transpired and the corresponding theological significance.
15 Sections
The 15 sections we will study are:
- Incarnation
- Preparation
- Ministry
- Disciples
- Association
- Crucifixion
- Resurrection
- Commission
- Pentecost
- Persecution
- Damascus
- Council
- Church
- Instructions
- Re-Creation
We still have some room in the class. I would love to have you join us!
